An Industry-Changing Announcement
Prior to Clio CEO and Co-founder Jack Newton’s conference-opening announcement Thursday morning, the Clio + Lexicata acquisition was kept a complete secret from conference attendees and the legal community. (Click here to watch a video clip of the announcement.)
The deal was the centerpiece of #ClioCloud9. With it, Clio announced its newest product, Clio Grow, which will utilize Lexicata’s Client Relationship Management (CRM) and client intake software to further revolutionize the legal tech industry.
As the news rippled across the conference and social media, it became immediately clear that both Clio and Lexicata had entered a new phase of their company’s respective (and now combined) journeys.
For Clio, the acquisition marked a major shift toward becoming a complete, end-to-end solution for law firms.
For Lexicata co-founders Michael Chasin and Aaron George, standing next to Newton onstage at the conference marked the culmination of years of hard work. Their dedication to simplifying lawyers’ lives propelled Lexicata forward and made it a natural partner for Clio.
For the Lexicata staff, the conference was a first opportunity to interact with their new Clio colleagues. The Clio staff’s infectious enthusiasm made Team Lexicata feel right at home from the start, as did the many Lexicata customers and conference attendees who expressed well-wishes in person and via email.
An Exciting Time
The last quarter of 2018 will be a time of rapid change, inter-organizational teamwork and, above all, opportunity. This acquisition significantly benefits both companies.
As Jack Newton said at the conference, “This is a case of 1+1=3.” A win-win that takes two successful enterprises and builds something even better than before.
What This Means for Attorneys
Clio’s acquisition of Lexicata is a case of 1+1=3 for lawyers as well. By joining forces, Clio and Lexicata will reach a larger segment of the legal market. This will enhance growth and scalability.
Additionally, the Clio Grow + Lexicata teams will utilize a larger resource pool to improve existing software and develop new features and solutions. This will help increase law firms’ efficiency, profitability and customer satisfaction.
In other words, it’s a win-win-win.
In early 2019, Clio Grow will officially hit the market. Built on Lexicata’s existing platform, it will create an even more seamless, integrated experience for Clio customers.
Meanwhile, current Lexicata subscribers will continue to receive the exact same level of service they’ve come to expect. The only immediate change will be an upgrade of Lexicata’s resources and capabilities for growth.
